Adekunle Gold drops fifth album Tequila Ever After

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold today released his fifth album titled Tequila Ever After.

The collection, an ode to the pursuit of peace and happiness, was heralded by the three-track pack Tio Tequila, released in May, and ‘Ogaranya’ single
that came out on 14 July.

The release comes after Adekunle Gold joined Def Jam Recordings in March, a move he described as a “full circle moment”.

By way of sonic persuasions, the artist harnesses everything from R&B to highlife, Afropop and amapiano, among others. “On Tequila Ever After, Adekunle Gold is his happiest and most creative yet and his superlative artistry shines across the 18 tracks,” a statement from the artist’s team said.

“With a stellar balance of commercial records that all retain critical acclaim, Tequila Ever After will further stretch Afrobeats’ creative boundaries and assert Adekunle Gold’s talent as a rockstar who belongs to the biggest global stages.”

The album features fellow Nigerian acts ZinoleeskySimi and Odumodublvck, South African singer-songwriter Ami Faku and veteran Malian guitarist Habib Koité. The rest are American singer Coco Jones, Grammy-winning artist and producer Pharell Williams, Grammy Hall of Fame inductee Nile Rodgers, R&B star Khalid and British singer and producer Labrinth.

Adekunle Gold, whose other albums include Gold (2016), About 30 (2018), Afro Pop Vol. 1 (2020) and Catch Me If You Can (2022), will be on the road in venues across the US and Canada from 22 September to 22 October in support of the new project.
