SA: Robyn Nakaambo and Pamela Mtanga to host the red carpet at BIMAs 2023

Media personalities Robyn Nakaambo (Namibia) and Pamela Mtanga (South Africa) will host this year’s Basadi in Music Awards (BIMAs) red carpet event at Joburg Theatre in South Africa on 12 August.

With over a decade of media-related experience, Nakaambo has carved a name for herself as a sought-after master of ceremonies. The Namibian Sofnfree brand ambassador is also a public relations practitioner, a businesswoman and a TV and radio personality.

“I am truly grateful to the Sofnfree team for granting me such a fantastic opportunity to co-host the red carpet at the annual Basadi in Music Awards,” Nakaambo said. “I promise to deliver a phenomenal experience alongside Pamela Mtanga as we celebrate and honour the incredible women in the music industry. It is an honour to be a part of this empowering event, and I cannot wait to make it an unforgettable night for everyone.”

Mtanga, meanwhile, is a multimedia entrepreneur whose journey began at Nelson Mandela University, where she joined the campus radio station and quickly became a brand. She has presented Channel O’s Massive Music and The Home Channel’s Afrimaxx shows. Mtanga is no stranger to red carpet hosting, having been in charge at the DStv MVCA 2022 and the Movie Room Africa launch.

Mtanga said: “As a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, it is an honour to be part of Basadi in Music Awards as a red carpet host. I look forward to shining a spotlight on the incredible achievements of women in music and beyond. This event is not just about celebrating talent; it’s about recognising women's resilience, creativity, and strength in the industry. Together, with Robyn Nakaambo, we will make this red carpet experience one that celebrates and uplifts every remarkable woman on the night.”

BIMAs CEO Hloni Modise said she was thrilled to have Nakaambo and Mtanga as red carpet hosts at this year’s edition.

“With them at the helm, we can expect an unforgettable red carpet experience, where designer garments and fabulous looks will blend seamlessly with our theme of African Royalty and Sneakers, celebrating the essence of style, culture and individuality,” she said.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by South African media personality Khanyi Mbau.
